Nicole Richie looks stunning and party-perfect at the 2008 UNICEF Holiday Snowflake Lighting on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles on Nov. 22. ... Her hair has gotten really long too! Wonder if it's extensions. I love it. She looks absolutely beautiful.

Nicole Richie Gushes About Baby Harlow

Nicole Richie, who appears on the cover of this week's People magazine with daughter Harlow, couldn't help but gush about her 9-month-old.

"Harlow's a delicate soul," Richie said. "She studies people. She's very coy. People say that she and I make the same expressions. But everyone says she looks like Joel."

"I'm cool with it," said Madden, calling Nicole the best mom he's ever seen. "As long as she doesn't look like me in a wig when she's 16."

The couple, fresh off the road with a Good Charlotte tour, have just moved into a new home in L.A. and are in the throes of planning an October 19 walk to help end family homelessness.

DJ AM Back Home in L.A.

After spending six days in the hospital following a devastating plane crash that killed four people, DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) has been released from care and returned back to his home in Los Angeles. His famous friend and co-survivor, Blink 182's former drummer Travis Barker, is expected to be released in a couple weeks. Both underwent treatment for burns after surviving the crash last Saturday in South Carolina.

Nicole Richie: Maternity Designer!

Chic new-mama, Nicole Richie, told WWD at a Balenciaga fete in Los Angeles that she'd be creating her own signature maternity line. "I wore so much Balenciaga during my pregnancy ... When my shirts got too short, I wore Joel's with a jacket on top ... My line will be about making women look and feel good at a really emotional time ... It's about showing your best self, not your tied, word-down self."

Nicole and Joel find the meaning of Christmas

In their first major charitable outreach since announcing the launch earlier this month of the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden on Saturday hosted a holiday party for children and families from L.A. homeless programs. More than 200 children and their family members enjoyed a "winter wonderland" on the Paramount Studios lot featuring teddy bears, cookies, cupcakes, face-painting, clowns, holiday music, Santa Claus and his elves. Children, selected from the L.A. homeless program Beyond Shelter, were able to choose from a teddy bear mountain of 500 "Cuddle Cub" stuffed bears. "It was a no-brainer for us to pull this party together for them for the holidays," Richie, who is pregnant with her first child, said. "We want to do much more to address the homeless issue, especially where it puts children at risk. But for now, we can at least try to help them have a merry Christmas by giving them teddy bears and getting them fitted for shoes. That's something we can do right now, today."

Nicole and Joel donate $200,000 in baby gifts

Not many kids have a foundation launched in their honor before they're born. But that will be one of the many privileges bestowed upon Nicole Richie and Joel Madden's baby, due in January. The couple hosted a surprise baby shower Monday for 100 expectant and new moms at the Los Angeles Free Clinic in Hollywood, where they handed out more than $200,000 worth of gifts. "The looks on their faces were priceless," Richie told reporters after the shower. "Some of them didn't even believe us [when they saw the gifts]. They thought we were joking." The Richie Madden Children's Foundation (at richiemaddenfoundation.com), Madden said, was an idea the couple had when they found out they were expecting. "We grew up in Los Angeles," he said, "and we want our child to be a part of the community, and to know that there's a responsibility to help the community." And it's a family affair. "We named it the Richie Madden Children's Foundation because we each have families and our families are close, and our family is involved," Richie said. By her side with his arm stroking her back during moments in the conference, Madden quipped, "We're lucky that we have families that get along and love each other," adding, "I think it's great that our child will grow up as a part of that family." Amongst the goodies given to families in need were Baby Bjorn products, cribs, mattresses and toys from Fisher-Price. "Everything they got, we got," Richie says, "so everything that will be in their nursery, will be in our nursery." Madden felt good about the event. "Sometimes people don't want to believe that me and Nicole are just a young couple having a baby and we're really excited. We don't really get to share our lives with people. It's nice to connect with people on a real level."

Nicole opens up about pregnancy

With the birth of her first child just two months away, Nicole Richie says her pregnancy has helped her bond with her biological mother - and brought her closer to dad Lionel Richie. "When I found out that I was pregnant," she tells Access Hollywood, "there was just something inside of me that felt a responsibility to mend any issues that I've had with my parents in the past, because, listen, I've put them through a lot." Richie, 25, adds that she has spent time bonding with boyfriend Joel Madden's mother, and her dad, too. "[The baby] is all he talks about, actually," Richie jokes, adding that he doesn't want the baby to call him"grandpa." Though many of the gifts at Richie's baby shower indicated that Richie and Madden are expecting a boy, she says she and Joel are waiting to find out the sex of the baby. "I like to know everything," she says. "If he wasn't at every doctor's appointment, I probably would have found out by now just behind his back and not told him." In her interview, which airs in two parts on Tuesday and Wednesday, Richie says she and Madden are holding off on planning their wedding. "I got to hold something for when I get older," she says. "I can't have everything happen in one year."

Did Paris profit from pirated pics?

A picture is worth a thousand words - and possibly several thousand dollars. Nicole Richie and Joel Madden held their baby shower at the Beverly Hills Hotel last Sunday, with exclusive coverage granted to InStyle mag. But early last week, pirated pics of the Wizard-of-Oz-themed party were being offered by a source to competing magazines. And one pal suspects Paris Hilton might have had something to do with it. "All the photos that were offered had Paris right in the center of them, as the star," says the insider. "They look set up." The pics, priced at around $3,000 to $4,000, did not sell since the celebrity tabloids closed early last week due to Thanksgiving. "None of the money would have been for Paris - for her it's about the attention," said the spy. Hilton's rep said, "Paris was a hostess of the shower, which a large number of people attended. Many of these guests were taking photos with camera phones...there is no way she had anything to do with this."

Nicole and Joel's good deed

Nicole Richie is using her Wizard of Oz-themed baby shower to benefit charity. Richie and boyfriend Joel Madden will donate baby gifts to 100 expectant families in need through the newly-formed Richie Madden Foundation via the LA Free Clinic. "It's really sweet," says shower guest Rashida Jones of The Office. "With all the swag these days, we're given so much stuff it's almost wasteful, and it's kind of nice when we're giving to each other to give to someone else." While many friends at Sunday's shower in Beverly Hills donated gifts to the charity, they also brought gifts for Nicole and Joel to keep - including one children's book from every guest to help build the baby's library.

Friends and family throw baby shower for Nicole

Nicole Richie marked another milestone on Sunday on her path to motherhood: her baby shower. About 90 people attended the Beverly Hills shower, organized by celebrity party planner Mindy Weiss, hosted by Richie's mother Brenda, and thrown by her sister Sophia and friends Paris Hilton and Masha Gordon. And while Richie has not revealed whether she's having a boy or a girl, some of the gifts offered a clue. From NoMi boutique in LA, guests picked up a pair of $50 baby sneakers for a boy and a $50 Tummy T Jack maternity shirt with a picture of a boy on the front. Invitations were hand-delivered to the Wizard-of-Oz themed event last Thursday. Richie and Joel Madden are due in January.

Nicole and Joel's new charity

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are planning a baby shower at a private home this Sunday. Instead of guests bringing them gifts, however, the soon-to-be mom and Madden are asking pals to give cribs, strollers and stuffed animals to the new Richie Madden Children's Foundation, which supports mothers in need. Next month, their charity will also donate 100 Mom-to-Be kits to the LA Free Clinic.

Rumored Richie/Madden wedding a hoax

Despite reports that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are getting married October 13, a source confirms that the couple is not planning on tying the knot until after their child is born this winter. In fact, the Good Charlotte frontman is going to be on tour when the alleged wedding was reported to have been taking place. "It's such a joke," said a Madden source. "We were all laughing about it. The tour is still on and they have no marriage plans yet." Indeed, wedding planner Lorraine Keseloff confirms that reports that she's handling the Richie/Madden nuptials are totally inaccurate, and she's never even met the parents-to-be.

Wedding bells for Nicole and Joel?

Are Nicole Richie and Joel Madden engaged? After a late performance last night with Good Charlotte in Arlington, Va., Madden was walking offstage when a radio deejay announced to the crowd, "He got engaged yesterday! Congratulations, Joel!" Madden quickly glanced back over his shoulder but was otherwise unresponsive. "We heard this morning," the radio host told People mag. Saying he got the news from "good sources," the deejay said he'd offered congrats to Madden earlier in the night. "He said, 'Thank you so much.' They're very excited about the baby and the wedding. They want to keep their personal life personal."

Nicole keeps her eye on Joel

Nicole Richie knows how rumors get started, so she's nipping in the bud any chance of wicked whispers about her boyfriend Joel Madden being on the outs. Wednesday night, Madden went to celebrate the first anniversary of the Village Pourhouse on Third Avenue, and all was well until a party promoter wanted to take a picture of him with a cute young woman. According the the NY Post, "He said he couldn't, as Nicole gave him strict orders not to take pictures with other celebrities or girls for rumor purposes."

Paris predicts Nicole will be "the best mom ever"

At an event last night in West Hollywood, Paris Hilton spoke of longtime friend Nicole Richie's pregnancy, saying, "She's really happy. I just got off the phone with her. She's so excited. I know she's going to be the best mom ever." Of Richie's relationship with Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, Hilton added, "They're really in love."

Nicole's interview - part two

Part two of the Nicole Richie/Diane Sawyer interview aired this morning, with Richie answering questions about her rumored eating disorder and party girl image. "Do I eat is kind of an understatement," said Richie. "I eat all the time, especially now. I'm constantly hungry. I'm eating at least every hour... Just like any mother, you know, you want to take the best care of yourself, especially while you're pregnant. And I'm definitely eating healthier now, and I'm really playing by the rules. I do not drink caffeine at all, cut out sushi." And to Sawyer's questions about drugs: "No alcohol... No marijuana... No pills... Nothing... No smoking around me." Sawyer also asked whether Richie felt any responsibility for the impression that skeletal images of the star might have on young girls. "I'm really sorry for not accepting that earlier," Richie said. "It took me a while." When looking at pics of her skinny self, Richie replied, "I see a girl that is obviously going through something and is much too skinny... No, I do not have an eating disorder. I've never had an eating disorder. Ever... It's anxiety. It's stress. It's just not being careful." As to whether her size was drug related, Richie admitted, "I think it possibly could have been."

Nicole going to same prison as Paris

Nicole Richie will serve her four-day jail sentence at a spot familiar to Paris Hilton - the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA. "[Richie's] attorney contacted us and indicated she wants to do her time there," a spokesperson for the LA County Sheriff's Department said today. The rep said no date was given for Richie's surrender, and it was not yet known whether the pregnant star would be housed in the jail's medical ward. "That's all determined by our medical staff upon her arrival," he added.
